I believe we should take more concern about people with disability and make their life easier.

Why do you need to understand human cognition in order to understand design?

I think you need to understand human cognition in order to understand design because cognition is what goes in our heads when we do daily tasks. It involves thinking, learning, daydreaming, decision making, and writing. When I am studying for my exam I need to learn the material for an exam, pay close attention, perceive and try to remember everything. Sometime when we are not sure what we are looking for we talk with people or browse on site to find out the right information.
Memory is also part of cognition that involves recalling various kinds of knowledge that allow us to act appropriately such as remember someone name, remember what we did last year. Sometime we do not remember yesterday what we did. It is not possible for us to remember everything that we see, hear, taste smell or touch.
Some of the design implications are good such as icons and graphical representation should easily tell the user what they mean.
Sounds should be audible so the users can understand they they represent.
Text should be easily readable.

Synchronous and Asynchronous

Why would a user want to use video conferencing instead of audio conferencing or text chat?

I believe I would use audio conferencing following by text chat. Audio conferencing I believe is easier because it is quick, audio conferencing is not expensive, it is easy technology to use and also can do multiple conference. Compare to video conferencing, sometime the video quality or voice is not good. Audio conferencing is easier to setup that a video conferencing, anyone can easily learn how to use audio conferencing and audio conferencing is more accessible.

For young generation prefer text message because the user can get immediate response, and if you are not able to talk out loud, you can easily text the other user, it is cheap compare with video conferencing, the user can easily text around the world,

Gesture Based Computing

What do you think of gesture based computing? Do you think it will become a widely used paradigm or is just wishful thinking?

I think gesture based computing is a really good technologies who love technologies, there are a lot of gesture based computing in the market such as Nintendo Wii, Apple iPhone and ipad. I believe Nintendo Wii is a great example of gesture based computing because it gives the user to interact with computer based technologies. Logitech and Apple have brought many gesture based to the market. It is being widely used in real life such as have iphone, ipad, and smartphone. While searching on internet more about gesture based computing I came across this video that describe how gesture based computing can be used just using hand.

Week 5

In real world whenever I am going to new place I always get frustrated. I will give you example of Ryerson University. Ryerson University has building all over the downtown. This semester I have a class in Kherr Hall south. It was my first time going to that building. I looked at the website first where it is located. It took me 5 to 10 min to find the class. It seem like I am going wrong direction all the time. There were no proper sign that indicate I am going on right direction. I believe the designer have to think first if the designer going to this place first times how he will find the place.
Sometime small business website links are frustrated some of them doesn’t even work properly, and they do not know much about designing so they just use whatever they like.
In class, we used craglist for not having proper menu button, they have too much going on in their home page. It is very confusing for me.

Week 3

I believe statistical analysis are important because provides us with the data information and then we analyze based on the data given to help resolve the issues, as from the Ted talk video It shows how the stats can help us to improve our decision. Statistical analyze can summarize data in shorter form, this way it can help analyze the problem, it also give us the quantify the confidence, and also it can be informative. On the other hand, some people do not take statistical seriously because it is not truth information.

Week 2 Blog Survey

Can you remember at time when you became so frustrated with a questionnaire that you did not finish it? Why was it frustrating. What do you think the designer of the questionnaire could have done differently?

There are few times I got frustrated doing questionnaire. It was 2011 census survey. It was very confusing at the end I had to call them and ask if I have to do all these other questions. They should have told us these other questions are optional. The designer of the questionnair could have told the user these questions are optional. They should have review the survey before. the census questionnnair should be straightforward because it is for whole family members. The survey questionnaire should be easy and meaningful.

There are many times the survey questionnaire are not probably done. I would recommend them to follow instruction for doing the questionnaire. When they are making the questionnaire they should test it. The questionnaire should be specific questions related to the topics only.

I do not like how some website will pop up saying would you like to do a survey for us. Nowdays I believe survey is becoming very usefull. I remember how Dell techician fix the laptop or solve our problems about the laptop they will send us email saying please fill this survey.
